Although I grew up playing sports and a dancer, I was challenged with gaining and losing weight for years after having each of my children. I finally started focusing on adding good into my daily activities and recognizing what was not serving me or toxic, including people or environments. It was such a positive experience and not at all punishing or depriving. After all, eating should be wonderful and fitness fun! Even as a busy parent, we CAN live a healthy life! I have practiced Clinical Gastroenterology for 30 years incorporating my training in Preventive Medicine and Obesity Medicine to best help my patients/clients work around their issues with weight. Food, nourishment and body awareness have played a central role in Ruth's life. I struggled with a feeling of not belonging to this crazy world from an early age on. Food was my first comfort "drug" of choice. This lead to disordered eating and losing and gaining weight very often. Eventually I was able to find peace with who I am besides from my eating patterns. I am a highly sensitive person, and this doesn´t affect me only on a psychological level, but also at my body. I have a lot of food sensitivities and my digestion is easily influenced by stress. I have a deep interest in the psychosomatic field, e.g. taking a holistic look on the many aspects of symptoms and diseases. I was able to improve a serious skin condition (rosacea) by lifestyle changes and taking an honest look at the hidden language of my condition. I am an empath and like to support others by an understanding and compassionate approach. It´s important to me not to get stuck in the head space, so I am also interested in embodiment. I enjoy doing Aikido in my free time.

Having struggled early on with body image and eating challenges leading to digestive problems I have taken an interest from a young age in the relationships between body/symptoms and emotions. As a result of her weight and food battles, she founded COPE For Change - Childhood Obesity Prevention + Education - to help children like she was overcome weight challenges.
