After completing a Fine Art’s degree in Johannesburg (1989), I studied Colour Healing Therapy in Gloustershire, England. I developed an understanding that creative expression and the healing arts draw on the same source for inspiration. I realized the important connection between subtle energy and physical form – between psyche and body. I moved to London, and enrolled in an intense two-year study of various forms of massage. Through the years working as a Massage Therapist, it has become clear that physical symptoms are often deeper reflections of disharmony expressed by the body. There is widely accepted evidence that body tissue such as muscles hold memory traces of earlier experiences. And indeed, when looking from a Mind-Body-Nutrition perspective, we can mindfully approach issues including weight, body image, digestion, or immunity as creative and intelligent languages that are gateways to our own healing.
